A fearless anti-lynching crusader, suffragist, women's rights advocate and journalist, Ida B. Wells (1862-1931) was born into slavery in 1862. A consistent radical, she began a national campaign against lynching in 1892 which nearly eliminated that horrific practice. She was also active in the struggle for women's suffrage, pushing white women to be inclusive.
